ILCs provide a place where you can find out about equipment, adaptations and telecare and see, try and in some cases buy specialist equipment for independent living. They can also be known as Assisted Living Centres or Disabled Living Centres (DLCs).

"Centres for Independent Living" on the other hand are organisations run by disabled people, which may not have equipment display and demonstration areas.

Some ILCs have had to close due to cuts in funding, however these essential resources are still in place in different areas of the country, listed here alphabetically by location:-.
